Some areas have faced issues with people searching through bins for cans and bottles to claim the deposit money.
There have been calls to trial a new initiative in the county designed to make recycling more accessible while reducing the issue of litter caused by rummaging in public bins.
The scheme, being trialled on 80 bins in the capital, places rings around public bins, allowing people to deposit recyclable items like cans and bottles without actually placing them inside the bin.
While the Deposit Return Scheme has proven effective, some areas have faced issues with people searching through bins for cans and bottles to claim the deposit money.
Businesses and residents have reported disruption from people rifling through public bins, leaving surrounding areas untidy.
The ring solution allows recyclables to be left in a designated area outside the bin, making them easy for collectors to retrieve without causing disturbance or mess.
Cllr Carmel Kelly said Kildare County Council should install the surrounds on some bins in the county to support efficient recycling practices.
