A man has been jailed for 5 years for subjecting his ex-partner to a campaign of beatings, intimidation and domestic abuse.
The Irish Sun newspaper, in an exclusive today, by Stephen Breen, reports that a Clondalkin man's nine year reign of terror is now at an end after he was jailed for five years on Thursday at Naas Circuit Court for coercive control
His victim a 42 year old woman, told the court of her harrowing ordeal during their toxic relationship
The abuse included beating her to a pulp in his back garden, choking her, pouring milk over her, dousing her in tomato ketchup, threatening to kill her, harassing her outside women’s refuge centres and stopping her from visiting her dying mother.
Other forms of coercive control included breaking their home internet, masterminding a smear campaign against her from the Midlands Prison, Portlaoise, threatening to burn the family car, cancelling her medical appointments, banning her from appointments with male medical professionals and breaching barring orders “multiple times”.
The mum-of-three, who was joined at the court by three of her sisters, Victim Impact Support and representatives from Women’s Aid, waived her right to anonymity during her victim impact statement at the court.
Judge Martin Nolan described Jackson’s behaviour as “disgraceful.”
The investigation into the horrific case was carried out by Det Garda Louise Long, Garda Lorna Flynn, Garda Karen Tuohy and Det Sgt Gearoid McCarthy under the command of Supt Oliver Henry from Naas Garda station.
Supt Henry said: “Any person who is subject of abuse in the home, we would encourage them to speak to a family member, a friend, a support group or Gardai.
