Distracted Driver Holding Cigarette And Phone Fined €160 On N7

Already carrying nine points on his licence, he now faces a six-month driving disqualification under penalty point rules.

The Naas Roads Policing unit, on patrol along the N7, stopped a van driver after observing him holding a mobile phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

The driver was issued with a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice of €160 and three penalty points.

Already carrying nine points on his licence, he now faces a six-month driving disqualification under penalty point rules.

Gardaí have reminded motorists that distracted driving remains a serious road safety risk.
