Gardai say they now face proceedings.
A driver has been arrested in Kildare, having been detected 58 kilometres per hour over the speed limit.
Naas Roads Policing Unit made the detection during speed checks on the M9.
The motorist was found speeding at 178kph in a 120kph zone.
Furthermore, Gardai say, they were an unaccompanied learner driver in an untaxed car.
They've been detained, and proceedings are to follow.
