It's being described as "a major international research and doctoral training initiative".

A €1 million investment for Maynooth University is set to allow for research into how sleep influences mental health and why disruptions to sleep are linked to conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

It's being described as "a major international research and doctoral training initiative".

The programme, DataGenChrono, co‑led by Maynooth University’s Professor Andrew Coogan and Professor Lorna Lopez will bring together leading researchers from academia and industry across 12 partner organisations in Europe and Canada.

It has been funded through the European Union's Horizon Europe programme under the Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks scheme.

Using advancements in human genomics, artificial intelligence and large‑scale health data, DataGenChrono will uncover the genetic and biological pathways that connect sleep and mental illness.
