€239,040 has been allocated for remedial and upgrade works at the playground and recreational facilities in Clane, a project identified as a local community priority.
Two Kildare communities are set to benefit from new investment under the 2025 Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Funding of €284,000 has been approved for projects in Athgarvan and Clane, aimed at improving local amenities and public spaces.
Athgarvan will receive €45,000 to upgrade a community open space, including seating and the potential for play equipment, as identified in the village renewal masterplan.
€239,040 has been allocated for remedial and upgrade works at the playground and recreational facilities in Clane, a project identified as a local community priority.
In September, plans to upgrade Clane’s playground were costed at €150,000.
The Council confirmed that only repair works have been carried out so far this year, including fixing benches, repairing the rubber surface, and maintenance on the swings and pirate ship.
However, officials said more significant improvements were needed - including a new safety play surface, a replacement pirate ship, accessible seating and picnic areas, biodiversity planting, and a sheltered teen space to encourage inclusion.
Despite the latest tranche of investments, Kildare’s overall allocation is one of the lowest in the country, with just two projects funded, while many other counties secured over €1 million each under the national scheme.
