Demonstrators allegedly directed verbal abuse and launched fireworks and other projectiles toward the officers on duty.
An investigation has been initiated following altercations at a protest in Celbridge where members of An Garda Síochána were reportedly targeted.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, during a planned public demonstration.
According to initial reports, unarmed, uniformed Gardaí were present at the protest, which was intended to be peaceful.
However, tensions escalated as demonstrators allegedly directed verbal abuse and launched fireworks and other projectiles toward the officers on duty.
No injuries were sustained by Garda members.
In response to the incident, An Garda Síochána has launched an enquiry in to the actions of a number of those present.
