Garda Shane Smyth provided details on Kildare Today's Crime Watch segment
Local Gardaí are investigating two separate incidents of suspected arson in Kildare and are appealing for witnesses or any relevant footage.
Criminal Damage – Lough Bollard, Clane
The first incident occurred just before 1am on Sunday morning in the Lough Bollard estate in Clane. A vehicle pulled up outside a house, and one of the cars parked there was deliberately set on fire. The blaze also caused damage to a second vehicle.
Gardaí in Clane are investigating and are appealing to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or who may have dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward.
Criminal Damage – Lakeside Crescent, Newbridge
The second incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning in the Lakeside Crescent estate in Newbridge. At around 2.30am, a homeowner was alerted by a loud bang. Upon going outside, he discovered the roof of his home was on fire. Thankfully, the homeowner and others were able to extinguish the flames before they spread further.
Newbridge Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage from the area around that time.
Garda Shane Smyth delivered the details during this week’s Crime Watch segment on Kildare FM and urged the public to assist where possible.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Clane or Newbridge Garda Stations.
