Fine Gael Cllr. Fintan Brett says the location is not suitable
Asylum seekers are to be accommodated at the old Equestrian Centre just outside Kill Village , according to Cllr. Fintan Brett.
Kfm understands that up to 348 refugees will be accommodated at this location.
Fintan Brett says that it's not a suitable site, "It's an agricultural barn, without lights, without ventilation, and as far as I know there's no sewerage on the site, and it's a mile outside the village."
The Equestrian Centre is privately owned but Cllr.Brett says the site should not be used and is not suitable "for human beings."
Kfm has requested additional information from Kildare County Council.
However, in reply Kildare County Council said: "Responsibility for the provision of Rest Centre Accommodation such as that referred to in the request for information lies with the Department of Children, Equality, Disadvantage, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY).
Speaking on Friday Morning's Kildare Today, Fine Gael Cllr. Fintan Brett outlined his concerns, listen back to the full interview here:
