The INMO is meeting with Naas General Hospital management this afternoon, where they will be asking what services will be reduced to match the staffing level
Naas General Hospital is currently in a "perilous position when it comes to staffing", according to a member of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The comment, made by INMO member Joe Houlihan, follows news last week that the trade union intends to seek bed closures at the Naas hospital due to severe staffing shortages.
Previous commitments were given to the INMO and its members at Naas General Hospital about the recruitment of staffing, with the notice expiring on Wednesday, October 28th 2026.
There are approximately 75 to 80 vacancies at the hospital, according to Mr Houlihan.
"We expect to see Naas management coming to [the INMO] to say [they will] contract the following services", said Mr Houlihan on this morning's Kildare Today show.
He continued, "If not, then we're in a very difficult position where our members may have to take industrial action to protect patients who are coming into the hospital and to protect the health and safety of the members who work in it."

The meeting is said to be in an effort to prevent any industrial action commencing at the hospital from Wednesday, October 28th 2026.
