Ireland’s first large-scale solar farm, developed by ESB and BnM, has been officially launched in Timahoe.
The 108-megawatt site can generate enough power for around 25,000 homes and is the first of four solar projects planned under a joint venture between the two companies.
A community benefit fund has been set up to support local initiatives.
Launching the project, Climate and Energy Minister Darragh O’Brien said it demonstrates how Kildare and the Midlands region can support Ireland to achieve its climate targets.
