He made the decision after Allenwood's defeat against Athy on Saturday
46-year-old Johnny Doyle announced his retirement from club football this afternoon, after Allenwood's defeat to Athy.
The game finished 5-9 to 1-13 in favour of Athy and following the game, Doyle said "that's it, you can't go on forever."
He has played at the top level for his club since 1995 and even after his inter-county retirement in 2014, he continued to wear the Sky Blue jersey for the last 10 years.
Last year he helped Allenwood to the Intermediate Championship title.
