A man has been charged with murder regarding a house fire in Edenderry, Co Offaly last year which claimed the lives of a four-year-old boy and his grand-aunt.
22-year-old Michael Dunne, of a Kildare address, which cannot be revealed by order of the court, is charged with the murder of Tadhg Farrell and Mary Holt at Castleview Park, Edenderry on 6 December 2025.
He is also charged with assault causing serious harm to the child’s grandmother Pauline Holt, on that occasion.
It is alleged that Dunne intentionally caused a fire which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to four named individuals.
There was no application for bail and the accused was remanded in custody to appear in court again by video link on 28 October for the serving of a book of evidence.
