Met Eireann has issued an alert for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Tipperary, and Waterford until 6pm, while Dublin, Kildare, Meath and Wicklow's warning is until 8pm.
The UK Met Office has also issued a thunderstorm warning for Antrim, Armagh and Down.
Heavy rainfall is expected for the evening, with localised flooding, poor visibility possible and difficult travelling conditions
