Planning permission for refurbishment of the building was granted almost 18 months ago.
A Kildare Senator has called for action on the development of Monasterevin Day Care Centre.
The centre opened in 1996, but closed in 2014.
It has been housed with the pavillion of Monasterevin GFC for the last 7 years.
Planning permission for the refurbishment and development of the day care centre to a health care centre was granted on the 27th of May 2020.
Kildare Fianna Fáil Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin, says the“This arrangement, whilst functional for a period of time, is not practical in the longterm, and the centre absolutely needs its own space to develop and care for their clients. The return of outdoor sport has put additional pressure on the Day Care centre with Monasterevin GFC becoming busier and busier, this could reduce the amount of time available for the centre”
“This is a vital project for the entire community in Monasterevin. Monasterevin Day Care Centre is voluntary, and was established in 1996, some 25 years ago. We need to see action taken here to protect this vital service . I have written to the Minister asking that he intervene to ensure action is taken”
