Waste companies say they're down income since the scheme was brought in last February.

Locals could be facing an increase in recycling bin charges because of the Deposit Return Scheme.

Waste companies say they're down income since the scheme was brought in last February.

The scheme sees plastic bottles and aluminium cans recycled through reverse vending machines at supermarkets, for customers to claim back the 15 cent deposits paid.

Labour Party Senator Marie Sherlock said it's wrong for bin companies to pass their losses on to customers.
