40-year-old Marin Silaghi appeared in court this morning with two offences
A 40-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident on the R403 in Blackwood, near Robertstown over the weekend, in which 16-year-old Kedagh Moore died.
Marin Silaghi, with an address in Ballybrittas, appeared before Athy District Court this morning charged with two offences.
Garda Mark Ryan from Naas Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution, and said further charges are likely.
The court that Mr Silaghi had moved to Ireland in the past eight weeks to work in construction, with the intention of moving his wife and children here.
Garda Ryan said Mr Silaghi, who turned 40 last Friday, was stopped at a mandatory drink and drug checkpoint in Carbury, three hours after Kedagh had been struck.
Mr Silaghi was questioned at Leixlip Garda Station and was arrested at 6.36pm yesterday.
He made no reply when the charges were put to him.
Application for bail was refused, and no application for legal aid was made today.
Mr Silaghi has been remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before Naas District Court via videolink on 19th November.
