Mary Cash, The Woman Found Dead On Stena Nordica, Was On Her Way To A Funeral In Kildare

It's understood that a woman who was found dead in a bathroom on the Stena Nordica last night was travelling to Kildare for a funeral.

She was among a group of family who were also due to attend the funeral.

A post mortem exam is being carried out this afternoon on the body of the woman named locally as Mary Cash.

The ship had travelled to Rosslare from Fishguard in Wales.

A man was arrested on board the ship and is being held at a station in the Eastern Region, where he can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

Three sailings from Rosslare to Fishguard were cancelled, but the 7.30pm service is expected to go ahead.
