The route was first mooted in the 1990s.
The Maynooth Eastern Ring Road is currently at detailed design stage.
The necessity for the new route was first identified 30 years ago, and some local representatives say, realistically, no further development can take place in the town until it is completed.
The design stage will be followed by the compulsory purchase of lands.
Labour Cllr., Angela Feeney, raised the matter at the September meeting of the Clane Maynooth MD.
She says KCC's response to her lacked detail.
Cllr. Feeney joined Eoin Beatty on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today
