Confusion Among Kilcock Residents Now Left Walking 2km After Mystery Bus Stop Removal

Local man David Findon has described the situation as “insanity,” claiming the stop disappeared without warning or consultation with those who rely on it.

Residents along the Old Bog Road at Kelleher’s Cross say they have been left confused and frustrated following the sudden removal of a local bus stop.

Local man David Findon has described the situation as “insanity,” claiming the stop disappeared without warning or consultation with those who rely on it.

It’s understood no single authority has accepted responsibility for the removal.

Residents who sought answers say they have been met with conflicting responses.

Bus Éireann has reportedly indicated the matter is not its responsibility, while the National Transport Authority says it was never consulted on the removal.

Kildare County Council has also stated it holds no records or meeting minutes documenting any decision to take out the stop.

Fine Gael councillor Tim Durkan has now raised concerns about the situation, saying he believes the wrong stop may have been removed.

He says Killeighter Cross had previously been identified for removal following a safety audit and was taken out by Bus Éireann, while the Old Bog Road stop was considered safe.

Councillor Durkan says he has contacted the NTA and is awaiting a response.

He says he will continue to press the matter with council officials and transport authorities.

In the meantime, residents say they are being forced to walk roughly two kilometres along an unlit road to reach the nearest available bus stop - raising fresh safety concerns locally.

In a statement to Kfm News, Kildare County Council confirmed the detailed design of a new bus stop at Old Bog Road, Kilcock is included in its 2026 work programme.

However, progress on the project is subject to the availability of staff and funding.
