The 47th annual WorldSkills competition takes place in Lyon this week
A Naas student is to represent Team Ireland at the 47th annual WorldSkills competition in Lyon, France this week.
22-year-old Sean McLoughlin is an electrical apprentice, and will be competing against competitors from 34 other countries.
Sean attended ATU Sligo for his academic technical training, and works for GMac Electrical in Naas.
He also plays football with Raheens GAA Club.
Sean won the preliminary Electrical Installations competition held in ATU Sligo in June 2023, and followed that up with a win in the National Skills Finals in the RDS in September 2023.
This qualified him to compete in the 2024 WorldSkills competition in Lyon, which takes place from the 10th to 15th September 2024.
WorldSkills Finals see apprentices from around the world compete to hone their skills against each other over a four day period.
