The figures, released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and An Garda Síochána and published in today's Irish Independent, provide a comprehensive look at recorded crime across Kildare between 2019 and 2024.

Theft (597 cases), drugs (443 cases), and assaults (158 cases) were major contributors.
Newbridge saw a notable increase, rising from approximately 1,100 offences in 2019 to 1,599 in 2024.

Leixlip showed some stability, with 504 offences recorded in 2024, almost identical to 505 in 2019.
Theft (205 cases) and drugs (72 cases) were the main crimes.
Celbridge had 572 offences in 2024, a slight drop from 680 offences in 2019.
Theft (255 cases) dominated the crime figures here.
Kilcock remained steady, reporting 342 offences in both 2019 and 2024, with theft (128 cases) and assaults (32 cases) as main concerns.
Clane recorded a rise from 361 offences in 2019 to 381 in 2024, with theft (110 cases) and assaults (56 cases) leading.
Kilcullen saw a small rise, with 185 offences in 2024 compared to 159 in 2019, dominated by theft (72 cases) and assaults (28 cases).
Smaller Towns with Lower Crime Rates
Monasterevin reported a slight increase, rising from 183 offences in 2019 to 198 in 2024.
Theft (57 cases) and assaults (38 cases) were the key categories.
Carbury had 288 offences in 2024, a jump from 159 in 2019.
Theft (147 cases) accounted for over half of all crimes reported.
Rathangan showed a decline, falling from 99 offences in 2019 to 76 in 2024.
Burglary and minor assaults were the most common incidents.
Robertstown recorded a slight drop, from 121 offences in 2019 to 114 in 2024, with theft (30 cases) being the leading issue.
Castledermot saw a decrease, from 126 offences in 2019 to just 99 in 2024. Crime levels here were the lowest among the Kildare stations.
Crime Categories Across Kildare
Across the county, theft remains the most widespread crime, particularly affecting Naas, Newbridge, Maynooth, and Kildare town.
Drug-related offences have increased sharply, especially in Naas (443 cases) and Newbridge (160 cases).
Assaults and threats are also a growing concern, particularly in Newbridge, Athy, and Naas.
Smaller towns, such as Castledermot, Rathangan, and Robertstown, generally recorded lower crime rates, although theft remains a persistent issue.
