Figures from the Department of Housing show over 5,400 of them are children, including 344 across the Mid-East.
In Kildare, 224 adults accessed emergency accommodation last month, an increase of 1 person compared to January figures.
Across the Mid-East - Kildare, Meath and Wicklow - a total of 182 families accessed emergency accommodation.
