Up to 1,000 construction jobs expected as €459m total investment transforms Littleconnell site into major global production hub, according to the Journal.ie
Kildare County Council has granted planning permission to Diageo to more than double capacity at its brewery in Littleconnell, near Newbridge.
The expansion represents an additional €259 million investment and will bring Diageo’s total spend on the site to approximately €459 million.
The development will include a new 9,300 square metre brewing facility, known as “Brewery 2”, increasing production capacity to 4.5 million hectolitres. Brewing at the existing plant is due to begin later this year.
Up to 1,000 construction jobs are expected during the building phase, with around 70 permanent roles once the expanded facility is operational.
The site is set to become a key production hub for Guinness and Guinness 0.0 for export markets, alongside other beers already planned for production there.
No objections were lodged against the planning application.
