That's according to Cllr Noel French after objections relating to the planning application for a new supermarket in Enfield were withdrawn.
He expressed concern about businesses in the centre potentially losing footfall due to a larger shopping centre on the outskirts of the town.
However, he said the population is so large that he believes a supermarket for the area is needed.
