The Defence Forces has signed a contract for an €8 million euro development at its Gormanstown base.

It includes the construction of a modern gym with a multi purpose hall and an obstacle course at the camp in Meath.

The Government says this will cater to the physical needs of all Defence Forces personnel and instructors.

The Tánaiste, Simon Harris, says a high quality modern living and working environment will be a major factor in morale and personal development.
