World Down Syndrome Day is marked each year on March 21st.
Conor O'Donnell from Newbridge who is a member of Down Syndrome Ireland's National Advisory Council, met with Taoiseach Micheál Martin this week ahead of World Down Syndrome Day.
It's understood, the meeting focused on priorities that will define the next four years, early intervention, access to transport, healthcare, and practical planning for adulthood.
After the meeting Conor said: "It’s very important that the Taoiseach meets with us and talks with us, we spoke about transport, housing, accommodation and schemes. He should take in the information and process it. I want him to bring our issues forward."
Conor highlighted the importance of World Down Syndrome Day saying how we live in a huge community and "everyone should get out there and celebrate with their friends, partners and families."
Conor is also a celebrated actor having been in Bad Sisters.
