Kildare County Council has announced the launch of an "affordable housing purchase scheme" in Athy.
The scheme is available for private buyers at Stradowe Meadows, Fortbarrington Road, Athy, and is being delivered in partnership with Cairn Homes.
According to the council, the scheme offers first-time buyers and other eligible homebuyers the opportunity to purchase one of twelve newly built homes at reduced prices.
The houses include three-bedroom and four-bedroom homes, and are expected to be ready for occupation in April 2026.
The market value for the homes range from €390,000 to €460,000.

The houses will generally be available only for First-Time Buyers who do not own a home, with the council stating a small number of exceptions will apply.
Eligible applicants looking to buy a home in Kildare are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the application process and documentation, available online at https://kildarecoco.ie/AllServices/Housing/AffordableHousing/.
The application portal will open at 11am on Wednesday 1st April 2026 and will remain open until at 12.00pm on Thursday 7th May 2026.
