Lunchtime pickets will be in place as the dispute over public sector pay ramps up.
Between 12.30pm and 1.30pm today members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation at 10 hospitals across the country will leave their wards and stations.
The affected hospitals are Cork University, University Hospital Limerick, St. Vincent’s and The Mater in Dublin , Our Lady Of Lourdes Drogheda, Letterkenny University Hospital, Galway University Hospital, Naas General Hospital, and the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
INMO members are already engaged in a work to rule along with other public sector staff.
The union says it needs to see meaningful proposals to ease the cost of living for its members.
As the stalemate continues over the negotiation of a new public sector pay deal, today's walkout is set to escalate to full work stoppages on October 14th and 21st.
