It reportedly would cost in the region of €200m to develop
Planning permission is being sought for a 190 megawatt solar farm on the Kildare/Meath border close to Maynooth and Kilcock.
An Irish subsidiary of GP Joule wants to construct the solar farm, which would cost in the region of €200m to develop.
If it's granted planning permission, it will be among the country's biggest such developments and could generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of up to 30,000 homes.
The land is currently part-owned by individuals based in Kildare, Waterford and Tipperary, according to The Irish Independent.
The solar farm, if given the green-light would span the townlands of Mulhussey, Batterstown, Longtown, Mullagh and Milltown, near Kilcock.
A decision is due by Meath County Council in February.
