Fiona Doyle - staff at Clongowes Wood College has retired after 22 years of work.
Fiona from Coill Dubh, who has Down syndrome and is non-verbal, spent over 20 years working at the school as a catering assistant.
Throughout her time she was supported by an key worker, who accompanied her as she became a member of staff.
Her sister Lorraine Grogan spoke on this morning's Kildare Today about Fiona’s experience, describing the school as an “amazing community” that truly valued her contribution.

Fiona worked every Tuesday and Thursday, and over the years built strong relationships with staff and students.
According to Lorraine, Fiona had an impact on each individual at the school as she received birthday and Christmas presents, including a small surprise celebration in the school for her 50th birthday.
Lorraine also commended organisations such as Kare, which support people with intellectual disabilities to access employment and community life.
Sadly, Fiona's time at Clongowes came to an end today, following a diagnosis of dementia.

Lorraine says the decision to step away from work has been difficult for Fiona and the family, given how much Fiona loved being part of the Clongowes community, as she would shake her Clongowes bag on Monday and Wednesday night in excitement to prepare for another day of work.
Fiona’s story highlight's how meaningful employment can be for people of all abilities.
