Plans have been submitted for a new new logistics and warehouse campus on a long closed industrial premises in Naas.
Donnelly Mirrors, located near the "Big Ball", opened in 1968 and was a significant employer in the area.
It closed at the end of 2007 with the loss of some 280 jobs.
Plans submitted to Kildare County Council for the development on the Dublin Road (R445) include two large warehouse buildings and a range of supporting facilities.
The first warehouse, Unit 1, will span around 8,586 square metres and include three stories of office space and staff facilities.
The second warehouse, Unit 2, will cover approximately 6,444 square metres with three-story office and staff areas of 320 and 298 square metres, respectively.
Both buildings will be 21.15 metres high.
To support traffic flow, a new entrance from Dublin Road and a connecting road with a roundabout will be added.
The site will also have two dedicated truck yards, parking for cars and bikes (including accessible and EV charging spaces), lighting, and landscaping.
Additional features include LPG and sprinkler tanks, pump houses, a substation, solar panels, and various infrastructure upgrades.
