Plans Underway To Tackle Illegal Encampments Across The Curragh Plains In 2025

The Department highlights they have been engaged with the CSSO in anticipation of any potential trespassing to ensure that all legal steps are taken promptly to protect the Plains

South Kildare TD Seán Ó Fearghaíl received and shared a response to a Parliamentary Question on illegal encampments on the Curragh Plains.

The department of Defence confirmed that the clean-up costs for 2024 totaled to €186,000.

They state that plans to prevent future issues include reviewing the Curragh Bye-Laws and working with Kildare County Council and Gardaí.
