Protesters outside the Dáil are calling for transparency and accountability from the Department of Agriculture.

An investigation has been launched into animal welfare at a plant run by Shannonside Foods in Straffan.

Operations at the plant have been fully suspended, after footage emerged of horses being severely mistreated in an RTÉ Investigates programme.

Co-Founder of Moyvalley-based charity My Lovely Horse Rescue, Martina Kenny, says they're not asking for much from the department.
