The proposed routes are hoped to link Naas town with surrounding areas
A public consultation has been opened on a proposed bus service for Naas town.
The National Transport Authority’s proposals include two routes connecting residential areas in Naas and Sallins with the town centre, schools, employment, Naas Hospital and Sallins railway station.
The proposed network comprises:
- NA1: Linking Sallins and Sallins railway station with Sallins Road, Naas Main Street, Naas Hospital, Kilcullen Road and Piper’s Hill campus.
- NA2: Linking Millennium Park with Monread, Naas Main Street, the Southern Ring Road and Caragh Road, serving the K Leisure area.
The service model presented by the NTA envisages buses every 30 minutes on each route, combining to provide a service every 15 minutes along the shared town-centre section. Operating hours would be approximately 6am to midnight, with consistent hours and frequencies across all seven days.
According to the NTA’s analysis, based on 2022 population figures, approximately 76% of people in the Naas and Sallins built-up areas would live within 400 metres of the proposed routes.
The presentation also outlined proposed improvements for Blessington Road through Local Link services and an extension of Route 139, with a future connection envisaged for the north-western quadrant of Naas.
Public consultation runs until 5pm on Thursday 8 October until 12 November 2026.
