Sixth class at Rathmore National School held a video call with astronaut John Shoffner on Wednesday.
The 67 year-old American told pupils he wanted to be an astronaut his whole life, adding he was "in love with the space race the moment it started".
He's currently piloting Space X's Crew dragon vehicle, which landed at the International Space Station on Sunday.
