Saint Vincent De Paul Says Need For Help “Soaring” As Families Struggle To Afford Christmas

It's launched its annual festive appeal, 'The Wonder of Christmas’, to highlight that many families don't know how they'll afford to celebrate this year - with 105 thousand children are living in consistent poverty.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul says requests for help are on the rise, as the cost of living continues to bite.

The charity expects this year to be its busiest yet, with requests for help set to surpass a quarter of a million by the end of the year.

It's launched its annual festive appeal, 'The Wonder of Christmas’, to highlight that many families don't know how they'll afford to celebrate this year - with 105 thousand children are living in consistent poverty.

SVP National President, Teresa Ryan says many people are struggling with the rising cost of groceries.
