The victims who gave Carey money after he told them he needed specialist treatment for cancer will be given an opportunity to present victim impact statements at today’s sentence hearing.
The sentencing hearing is due to begin today of DJ Carey.
The former Kilkenny hurler, with an address at Newtown, Maynooth, was charged with 21 counts of fraud and forgery after lying about having cancer.
He pleaded guilty to 10 of those charges, meaning he did not need to stand trial.
