The data indicates that the majority of service failures are linked to operator-controlled issues such as staffing shortages and vehicle availability, rather than traffic congestion or roadworks.
Concerns have been raised over ongoing reliability problems on key bus routes serving the county.
Kildare North Fianna Fail TD Naoise Ó Cearúil said commuters are being repeatedly let down by cancelled and missed services, particularly on the W6 and X31 routes.
Figures from the National Transport Authority show that more than seven per cent of scheduled services on the W6 failed to operate in mid-2025.
The X31 recorded an even higher level of disruption, with lost kilometres peaking at 7.5 per cent in May 2025.
The W6 is operated by Go-Ahead, while the X31 is run by Dublin Bus.
The data indicates that the majority of service failures are linked to operator-controlled issues such as staffing shortages and vehicle availability, rather than traffic congestion or roadworks.
"One commuter from Naas told me she had to pay for taxis twice in a week because her scheduled bus never arrived. This is unacceptable," Ó Cearúil said.
In December, Go-Ahead published updated schedule for the W6 route following months of complaints from commuters in Maynooth, Celbridge and across North Kildare about cancellations and unreliable evening services.
The updated timetable followed direct engagement between Go-Ahead, the Department of Transport and local representatives.
