Kildare man, Anthony Mockler, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for a brutal assault on his ex-partner inside a locked taxi.
During the assault, which occurred on November 5, 2023, on Basin Street, Naas, Mockler repeatedly punched the victim in the face, leaving her permanently scarred.
According to the Irish Independent, Mockler, 31, of Station Road, Kildare Town, admitted to intentionally causing serious harm to his former partner, as well as charges of false imprisonment and threats to kill during the same incident.
He also guilty to another charge of assault causing harm to a friend who intervened to help the victim.
During the proceedings at Naas Circuit Criminal Court, it was revealed that the victim needed over 40 stitches to her face, and the functionality of her mouth may be affected due to the severity of her injuries.
A plastic surgeon's report stated that the scar would be visible indefinitely.
Mockler, originally from Monasterevin, had previously worked at Intel.
