New data released by the Dept. of Housing.
There's been a reduction in the number of Kildare households accommodated through HAP.
At the end of 2020, 2,398 people and families in Kildare were being housed under the Housing Assistance Payment scheme.
Data up to the end of March from the Dept. of Housing shows that has fallen, marginally, to 2,375 households.
Under HAP, councils make rent payments directly to private landlords on the tenants' behalf.
The tenant then makes a contribution to the local authority.
