Earlier this month, The Children's Rights Alliance said some children and young people across the county are suffering 'holiday hunger'.
Three additional primary schools in Kildare have been approved for the Hot School Meals Programme.
The further rollout of the Government’s Hot School Meals Programme will see an additional 29,000 children across 168 schools have access to nutritious hot meals for the new school year starting from this September.
This brings the total number of primary school children now eligible to receive a Hot School Meal every day to 345,000.
Earlier this month, The Children's Rights Alliance said some children and young people across the county are suffering 'holiday hunger'.
It said 250 thousand kids nationally, who normally benefit from the hot school meals programme, won't eat properly over the summer break.
Last year, 28 Kildare primary schools benefitted from the programme, while children in 19 extra schools across the county benefitted from a further extension to the programme this year.
The three additional schools added in Kildare are Clogherinkoe National School, Scoil Na Naomh Uilig in Newbridge and Tirmoghan National School.
