In Kildare, a number of major projects are listed, including new school buildings at St Mary’s College in Naas, Curragh Community College, St Farnan’s in Prosperous, and a new special school at St Anne’s in the Curragh.
Plans have been announced to deliver 57,000 additional school places by 2030, supported by more than €7.5 billion in funding.
The programme includes completing almost 300 school projects already under construction, and moving a further 105 projects to tender or construction by the end of 2027.
Just over €2 billion of the funding is earmarked for maintenance and climate upgrades at existing schools.
In Kildare, a number of major projects are listed, including new school buildings at St Mary’s College in Naas, Curragh Community College, St Farnan’s in Prosperous, and a new special school at St Anne’s in the Curragh.
However, some of the projects due to progress in 2026 and 2027 involve modular or temporary accommodation.
Out of 12 Kildare projects, 3 rely on modular accommodation, while 9 involve permanent new buildings or major extensions.
Large-scale new school buildings are planned for Patrician Secondary School in Newbridge, St Mary’s College in Naas, Curragh Community College, St Anne’s Special School in the Curragh, and St Farnan’s in Prosperous.
A major extension and refurbishment project is also included for Cross and Passion College in Kilcullen.
Under the first tranche of the National Development Plan rollout for 2026 and 2027, further projects in Kildare are due to move to tender or construction. These include extensions at Presentation Girls School in Maynooth and Scoil Mhuire in Naas, as well as a new school building for Gaelscoil Ruairí in Maynooth.
The plan also confirms that some additional capacity will be delivered through modular accommodation, with modular extensions listed for Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich in Maynooth, Gaelscoil Nás na Ríogh in Naas, and Celbridge Community School.
