Gardaí are appealing for information after two men were threatened with a knife and chased down the road by a teenager in Kildare Town.
The two men had travelled on the train from Portlaoise to Kildare Town around 11:30pm on the night of Thursday (1 October).
They got off the train and were walking towards the town centre when they were followed by another male from the train.
The male in question was described as approximately 16-years-of-age, with blonde hair, a black jacket and was wearing a black beanie.
The teenager produced a Stanley knife and demanded a phone off one of the men.
Speaking on Kildare Today's Crimewatch, Garda Chris Fallon said the phone was handed over and the suspect "demanded" the pin code be inputted into the phone.
He then punched the injured party in the face.
The phone was placed on the ground and the suspect tried to use the phone but couldn’t.
Both of the injured parties at this stage ran towards the Market Square in Kildare and were chased by the teenage suspect still brandishing the knife.
The two men then ran into Cunningham's Bar to evade him.
Gardaí were then contacted and are now following a "definitive line of enquiry".
Anyone who was in and around the Station Road area of Kildare Town on Thursday the 1st October at 11:34 pm or may have seen this male that fits the description at Kildare Train Station can make contact with Gardai in Kildare on 045 527730.
