Cars and jeeps have been involved in the highest percentage of reported incidents with horses.
85 per cent of horse riders say they have experienced issues on Irish roads.
12 per cent of those incidents resulted in an injury to either the horse or the rider.
The Road Safety Authority, Naas based Horse Sport Ireland, Curragh headquartered Horse Racing Ireland and the gardai have launched a road safety appeal calling on horse-riders and other road users to share the roads safely.
