A main serving the Dunmurry Road has ruptured.
Water supply to parts of Kildare Town will be disrupted until late tonight.
Kildare County Council says "Contractors working at Dunmurry Road have damaged the watermain"
Areas affected include Dunmurry Road, Green Road, Old Road and surrounding areas.
Repairs are underway, but are not scheduled for completion until 10pm tonight.
It could take up to three hours, after that, for the system to refill and for normal supply to resume.
