Changes to personal injuries guidelines came into effect at the end of April.
The amount paid out in personal injuries claims has fallen by half in the last six months, according to data being presented to Cabinet Ministers this morning.
The Personal Injuries Assessment Board data shows a significant drop in the level of payouts.

Changes to personal injuries guidelines, which reduced the amount awarded for some injuries, came into effect at the end of April.
Initial data appears to show the average award has fallen by half, with 78 per cent 15,000 euro or lower, compared to 30 per cent last year.
