A leading health expert wants stroke survivors and their families to know recovery at home is possible.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in Ireland, and the leading cause of acquired neurological disability in adults, affecting more than 6 thousand people every year.

Dr. Kenneth Monaghan, lecturer and clinician at Atlantic Technological University Sligo, says when patients return home from hospital, they are often in a 'black cloud' of despair as they believe recovery can only happen in hospital.

However, Dr. Monaghan says being at home has unique advantages:
