The Irish Red Cross says it hasn't been able to get in touch with around half of the people who have pledged to take in a Ukrainian refugee.
The Justice Minister Helen McEntee has said she supports the idea of paying people who take in Ukrainian refugees.
Last night emergency accommodation was opened up for Ukrainian refugees with 70 people arriving at the Millstreet Arena in Cork.
Ministers have said other large scale accommodation centres will likely be set up.
Some 4,000 extra beds are planned for college campuses from the end of May but it likely won't be enough.
Efforts are being stepped up to ensure there is accommodation for the further 6 to 10 thousand refugees expected to arrive here over the coming weeks.
However, Liam O'Dwyer from the Irish Red Cross says of the people they have been able to reach, the response has been mostly positive:
