Almost €1B Spent On Teacher Pension Payments Last Year

Some payments reached €175,000 per teacher.

The total value of pension payments paid to primary and secondary teachers, and their spouses and children, last year was €964 million.

Some 28 teachers got retirement lump sums of over €150,000 euro last year.

According to freedom of information figures, 670 teachers received at least €100,000.

A total of 1,276 primary and secondary teachers received retirement lump sums last year.

The total value of them was nearly €121 million in 2021.

There was two secondary school teachers who received over €175,000.

The biggest amount paid to a primary school teacher was over €160,000.
